Set Designer and Props Stylist Alicia Sciberras actually had her beginnings in art. You might even say her studies in Fine Art obliquely groomed her for today being one of the most dynamic stylists.
Sciberras’ work pivots on crafting rich narratives, and her visual language toggles easily from manicured to effortless, while never betraying an enduring quality. Perhaps this dichotomy was impelled by her studies in sculpture and installation (she graduated with Honours from Sydney College of the Arts), soon after which Sciberras found herself styling pages for Habitus. Three years on, she was appointed assistant to the eminent Megan Morton, before taking up the role of Style Director at Inside Out and having work published in Vogue Living that same year. Today in 2019, Sciberras’ work appears on the pages of US Vogue and Allure magazine – a huge accolade in the industry.
Focusing on objects and spaces, Sciberras’ work is thoughtful; her eye, critical and her spatial awareness, cultivated. She also dances between disciplines: yesterday she was physically directing a set build; tomorrow she’ll be balancing perfume bottles precariously for a still-life shot. Her work, whether editorial or commercial, is a confluence of modern hallmarks and capricious detail—but balance, always. Her selected clients include: David Jones, Mercedes Benz Australia, Christian Louboutin, Hay Australia, IKEA, Kenzo, Marimekko Australia, Adidas Originals, Country Road, Hardy Brothers, US Vogue, Allure magazine, Vogue Living and Harpers Bazaar.
